Dad brought us for a seafood dinner at Tamu Selera in the Capital at Dad's favourite place, Mizu Seafood. He loved this place as he discovered the dishes were really fresh. Tamu Selera was one of the places that some of us xpys love to hang out to have a drink years ago. Nowadays, Tamu Selera is now becoming popular as a Seafood Hub. Public toilets are now readily available, though with more improvements hope to be made.

After the dinner, the parents went back home while I head to my friend's private New Year's eve Family function. Was only able to join them late close to 11pm. Took these few pictures that I can only share. Could I have joined earlier, I would have another collection of pictures I would really enjoy as the theme was Costume Party

I have always found comfort in music since I was a teenager. Music has always helped me go through hard times. I have always believed words in music has the power to make us stronger and better in time. Was reading Pablo's blog and was made aware of the new song for the Cancer Fund Raising Awareness 2008 which I had actually heard on radio days before. The song hit the chords in me and just in time too. I love music that just empowers you and make you believe in just anything that you want to do. I hope that you would enjoy this song as I have. It has just made me believe again

Was over at the mall on Friday night and I suddenly felt like a kid, started running towards the crowd who were warming up to these 3 known-figures. I didn't care for the rest of the crowd and I fought for my turn to take pics with them. Darth Vader was cool and scary at the same time too, coz not because of the costume, but the breathing sounds that Darth Vader makes. A little girl even cried haha Yes, I can hear it clearly as I stood beside him for a photo.

Taking pics with them sure made me remember all the 'Star Wars' Movies that I grew up watching. My mum's side of the family influenced me and my siblings a lot with the movies and cartoons of choice then. 'Star Wars' was one of them. Light Sabers are so cool!

To answer Iskandar's question what camera I am using to capture my moments, I am currently using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01. Bought it during my transit stay-over in Singapore, on my way back from Japan in 2006 from the 21st Century Renaissance Youth Leadership Programme. A handy gadget for me esp the Wide lens feature. I didnt do much survey before buying it and it was new at the time I bought it. Had become accustomed to it and it has been with me everywhere.

My aunt forwarded me an e-mail which highlighted the calories the types of meal one consumes. Typical of me, I just moved it to my personal folder coz I get these types of e-mails like every single month. I get the same e-mails every month, when will people stop forwarding ah? I still getting e-mails which was already forwarded years ago. OoOk..back to my story. I was just about to move it when I saw this

No wonder I didnt lose weight! I for one never cared for the calories one meal has. However, these were the meals that I had consumed when I was in Bangkok *LOL* Despite all the walking and crawling (no lah..I think I crawled more when I went to Kuching last April. Wanted to be dramatic), I was so confident I had lose weight since we walked so much to finish all the floors of the HUGE shopping malls (atupun inda abis!) and I was so certain my fat evaporated coz Bangkok was steamy hot.

BEFORE anyone of you start saying no wonder I've gained (my family members does this), I had to eat these meals to stay alive in Bangkok. Halal food is easy to find though nowadays in Bangkok compared to years (not sure how many years, I have no official statistics ok) before. What I DO know is A&W is Halal back in 2002. Anyways, Sukhumvit Road is lined up with Halal restaurants which specialises in arabic and middle eastern food. Yup, Kebab, Nasi Briyani, Nan..the list goes on. With us having no breakfast at all and zoom towards various locations, we are all hungry the time we arrived at the restaurant so we ended up eating a lot at a sitting. Try being deprived of breakfast and you'll know how we feel. We ate breakfast,lunch and for dinner also at one sitting haha

Yes yes.. Nasi Briyani Ayam (chicken), Nasi Briyani Kambing (Lamb), Garlic Nan, Grilled Chicken and Durian was eaten by us almost everyday during our 6-day stay. For drinks, we drank fresh coconut juice everyday! My biggest frustation was knowing A&W's location during the last two hours before we had to go to the airport. We were so tired of eating Middle Eastern & Arabic Food everyday that I had no appetite eventhough I was hungry.. so to A&W Thailand, I'll be back to eat you! To Durian Monthong and fresh Coconut juice, I miss you

Tae Ta Re

As we were walking around Chatuchak Market in Bangkok, we were surprised to see Teh Tarik (literally Pulled Tea) or as the Thai's call it 'Tae Ta Re' (notice the resemblance?) in Bangkok! The guy proudly pulled tea as people surround him watched in awe, including me of course. Well actually I was still more surprised how there's Teh Tarik in Chatuchak Market hehe Saw a guy gave a thumbs up after he quench his thirst with Teh Tarik and was given a refill as a friendly gesture by the vendor.

Teh Tarik are also very well known in Malaysia as they have competitions to crown the Best Teh Tarik master. Various methods where dancing and tricks are done while pulling tea which can be very entertaining. I can't imagine how much practice they would have to go through to master different acts. Teh Tarik are also available in Brunei at various coffee shops but I am not sure which shop offers the best Teh Tarik you can find here. I myself, prefer Ice Teh C (Milk Tea) compared to Teh Tarik. Teh Tarik is milk tea but pulled, get it? Enjoy the video

There will be a Telbru eSpeed roadshow promotion starting tomorrow, 28th March til 6th March at the Mall, Gadong. The highlight of the roadshow will be an introduction to the newly revised amount for eSpeed which is now $68, instead of the usual $98 (Yes I know..now i want it too. Going to register but going to install lock on the computer so my siblings are not on the computer 24/7! haha) hmm where was I? Oh yes, the $68 would be for bandwidth of 512Kbps. Those who are still willing to go on the $98/month plan would be upgraded to 640Kbps. Oh, did I mention too that if you register for eSpeed $68 plan, you would get a free modem and registration fee waived with deposit of $68, a month's payment in advance.

Now..for the light users, there will be eSpeed Time plan that varies for you to choose from.

Lowest plan would be starting from $4.90. Free modem and registration would apply for e-speed time if the purchase is $39.90 and above.

Youths who are interested to join the Ship for South East Asia Youth Programme (SSEAYP) 2008, the Application Form is now available at the Youth and Sports Department, 3rd Floor, Youth Section, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports at Spg 336-17, Jalan Kebangsaan, BC3915. Forms are also available at each district's Youth Centres.

For further information, please call 2381903 (Bandar), 5221718 (Temburong) , 3334938 (Belait) and 4222963 (Tutong)

Completed forms should be submitted by 31st March, 2008 4pm to the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Several criterias needed to join:
*Aged 18-30years old, not married
*Completed Secondary years of education (Form 5)
*Active in youth activities/associations and committed for future youth activities
*Youths who are working in the govt/private sector must obtain permission to apply

Info about this year's programme:
The programme will run from 21st October until 11 December, 2008. A total of 52 days. The programme will start in Japan and berth at Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and then back to Japan.Purpose of the programme is to promote goodwill and understanding among ASEAN Countries and Japan while gaining understanding of several activities of different aspects such as way of life, culture, politics, etc.

Wanted to make this entry on this very rare day of the 'Leap Year". Cool thing as i am blogging this using my mobile.

Will be busy this weekend as my cousin's 'Bersanding' ceremony will be this sunday.

The 3rd Belait Travel Fair will also be taking place at OGDC,Seria this weekend. Attractive prices n fares for travel packages to be expected. Amazing Race Asia Finals tonight!

I'll be ready in front of the tv tonight for the final of the Amazing Race Asia. The finalists are Marc & Rovilson, from the Philippines, Adrian & Collin, from Singapore, and Vanessa & Pamela from Malaysia. I am rooting for Adrian & Collin because throughout the race they were consistent 2nd place just behind Marc & Rovilson. I dont want Marc & Rovilson to win coz they have won soooo many things already by just being in 1st place in several pitstops during the race (6 consecutive times!) Also, they have been getting cocky lately so I no likey hehe Lets see..if I recall correctly, So far they've won themselves a Sony Camcorder each, 2 travel packages to 2 different places (one is South Africa) and also a money bonanza of $20,000 through Standard Chartered Card. If Vanessa and Pamela wins, that would be cool too coz for the 2nd consecutive year, an all female team wins the race. That would also make them the 2nd all-female team to win the amazing race series (including Amazing Race). The 1st all female team Amazing Race Asia winners were Zabrina and Joe Jer,also from Malaysia. So who are you rooting for tonight?

My bro msned me last night and asked me to check out this particular blog. Apparently this girl is getting attention from the whole of Brunei for her irresponsible comments on our own and only University. Comments are multiplying by the hour. Last night the comments stand at 22 and this morning it is now 38 and counting. I must say this girl is quite irresponsible in making a statement before getting out the facts. I was quite intrigued in this girl as she then responded by saying she is not condemning UBD, but now the people. If you read her initial post "now and the future", her whole post clearlys shows she is condemning UBD and not the people.

To the blog owner

"My dear, in your post, you said LAW is one the subject that you would want to pursue in. Based on your defence, you already lost. You say one thing before, then you claim you said something different when in fact, it is already in writing. Sorry my dear, you have lost the basic in LAW. Therefore, not need pursuing in that do you? For communication, you also fail in the first thing in life. Admitting you are wrong , for your irresponsible comments. Instead, you choose to defend yourself which by saying you meant another thing. You say you have dreams therefore you want to pursue studies in the UK, not UBD which is limited with its courses. For someone who claims to have a dream, you sure are unique. A person who has dreams are daring to decide their own fate and are brave to venture into the new. A person who has dreams makes their own path in life and do not play safe by applying into UBD just as IN CASE you dont get a scholarship, which my dear is what you are doing. If you are not happy with UBD and is afraid of ending up becoming a teacher, then don't apply. YOU yourself decide your own fate. I for one, am someone who ended my studies at A-level. At that time, I could not further my study to university and the only path that was safe for me to get a secured job was to apply to UBD to become a teacher WHICH I decided not to go for. Why? Because I was brave enough not to play safe and I was honest with myself to say I for one, do not wish to become a teacher as I know I am not committed to be one. Being a teacher has big responsibilites and I for one, do not want to be one just to play safe. I wanted to do something else which fulfills my interests. THAT my dear is a person who has dreams"

Couldn't resist sharing this with you. On sat nite, Lady Buggable's family ordered a large tray (luruskah tu.setalam bah) of Chicken Briyani Rice. They ordered it from an Indian restaurant and it cost only BND50.00 (If org yg bagi aku info atu salah, salah tah ku tu) Oh I just noticed I didnt take a pic of the side White creamy sauce (Indian version of creamy sauce) which you mix with the rice when you eat it.

Arrghh.. Currently at home. MC again today. Throat was at its worst this morning. NOW I have the flu. Keep sneezing and mucus keep flowing *ahaks* Wanted to kill the boredom by posting more pictures BUT slow connection since I am using dialup, ITS NOT HELPING and its frustrating! Good news though. This friday there will be a soft lauching of the new service provided by Telbru. Thanks LadyBuggable for the info. Currently they are offering E-speed which is the broadband service that you have to subsribe monthly by paying BND98 per month and use it 24/7. The new service is also offering E-speed but its a time-based plan, for a monthly rental fr BND29.90. Meaning you just have to pay for the time you would be using E-speed. I like the plan since I am not always online hence why I do not subscribe to e-speed. However, you would still have to register for e-speed service so that would include the registration fees and you would still have to install the modem from telbru which then would include another fee. It all comes up to $$ really... and you are good to go! Watch out for the advert this Friday in the Borneo Bulletin. Hmm...will that mean the cease of dialup service? or an upgrade? Its soooo slow...a bunch of old people briskwalking is faster than the dialup speed..

Two movies in two nights

Friday, was treated to a malay movie (thanks ji ^_^) called CUCI at Qlap Cineplex. We came late.Well, 15mins late to be exact. CUCI is directed by Hans Isaac and as usual, the gang (Afdlin Shauki, AC Mizal & Awie) is also in the movie. Lots of laughs to be expected in the movie. Worth watching people so go out and see it.

Saturday, went to see RAMBO. Decided 15mins before I was due to head back to KB. Didn't get to attend the IM Charity Evening as I was suppose to go back to KB that evening. anyways, the movie was gruesome. Stallone was still charasmatic and cool in his own way. I am giving the movie an A+ for the action and surreal battles. One thing to note, this movie is not for the young everyone. Please do not bring children to watch this as it is too visual (involves lots of decapitated heads, sliced bodies, etc you name it, they've got it!) I was disappointed as I saw IRRESPONSIBLE parents bringing their kids to watch it. Couldnt they like bring their kids watch Barney or something at home??? Anyways, back to about RAMBO. Despite bring engrossed in the movie on the surreal battles, I came to a feeling of sadness for the people who had to live through the life of risking being killed everyday. I am going to leave the suspense here for everyone. You'll have to watch the movie to understand. Just expect lots of tingling feeling from the various brutal killing/torture scenes. Best part of the movie for me: the part where it involves "archery"

2) 1st Season of Boston Legal (This is hilarious. I love it!)
3) 3 seasons of House and now in Season 4 and counting..
(the one showing in AXN is now season 3)
4) 2nd Season of "Joey" (It's not bad actually.. has its funny moments)
5) 11 episodes of the new season 4 of "Grey's anatomy" (and counting..)

and now I have a spoilt choice of recapping all of "Friends" seasons, "Smallville", "Prison Break".. the list goes on..

Bread Addiction

Universal Cafe, a local establishment located in Seria Town, has been around for more than 50years. Run by two Hainanese brothers, with their elderly mother in the background, the cafe, is unique in its own ways. They only serve drinks such as Teh C, Teh O, you know, the works and bread delicacies. Yup, no kway teow, kolo mee, or other pan fried items. Except for the egg lah hehe While sitting drinking and enjoying your meal, you'll notice the furniture is old kopitiam style, the cooking methods used are truly classic! I used to come here every Friday and Sunday morning before my grandfather would send me and my brother back to KB after spending the nite in Sungai Liang. We would be really early in the morning around 7am. I have always loved the food here and last week, I found out that I still do. I haven't been to the cafe for around 10 -15years I think. Its amazing how everything in the cafe still looks the same. What is also special that the food still tastes the same too. I truly recommend this to everyone as a must visit place when you're in Seria town. Though be aware that this shop closes pretty early at 5pm. Yup, 5pm! but they open really early in the morning so its an ideal place for you to have your breakfast. Its a favourite among the locals, both the young and old.

French toast. You can have it with cheese in the inside too! This is one of the favourites among the patrons

Aaahh... this is a must try. The egg sandwhich. It sounds ordinary but the bread, its so fluffy yet tasty. You'd want more of it.

The surroundings will just amaze you. I myself cannot believe that the shop still looks exactly the same just as it is, 10 years ago! From the furniture, the cupboards, the glassware, even the interior!

New Year's Eve

Yet again another entry about food haha well that was what I was up to New Year's eve. Yes! We had a barbeque. Frankly I think the whole of Brunei was barbequeing into the New Year. Believe it or not, Chicken Wings was NOT AVAILABLE everywhere. It was finito. Lady Buggable and 11 went to one shop to another in the Brunei Muara area and they couldnt get their hands on any. Good pieces of Lamb was also low. I was on my way already to bandar when they informed me to look for Chicken Wings and also for Prawns. Prawns and fish was nowhere in sight. Fresh ones I mean, the soon to be expired was still there of course haha Soon Lee Sungai Liang had none, Hua Ho Tutong also had none. They were all sold out on Chicken Wings. I bought Lamb Legs (BIG ONES!) for somewhat cheap to me. It was actually $10.90/kg (still i say cheap since it was big) on the price but Lady Buggable told me it was $8.++ on the price tag. I didnt really check and I bought nearly 2kg of it. I think he wrongly entered the price. We didn't get to eat the lamb legs til the next day as we were already full as there were other lambs barbequed first. Anyway we ate into the new year. I didnt eat much surprisingly. Durian was also on the table and it was yummy. 1am and we were just sitting there silent..munching bits by bits..it was dull..when we decided to go cruising again! haha yes, with the new VW EOS again..

Jerudong Park alive again

A shortcut through Jerudong Park ended up in me stuck in traffic. Jerudong Park had its own activities lined up on New Year's eve. The current Dazzling Lights "Wonders of the World" Festival had also brought back a huge number of visitors thus making Jerudong Park alive in December. I have yet to go and I am planning to go sometime this week. Countdown for the new year was also one of the activities Jerudong Park had to offer. Gosh..it was just like in the 1990's where cars would lined up bumper to bumper to look for parking spaces. Weekly activities esp during the weekend such as Magic Shows, Mini Concerts and Clowns have been one of the starters to the revival. I hope more to come soon. Kudos to the management of JP for organising such events to revive the park.

Was treated to Au Lait Cafe sometime this week. A nice cafe with nice food. I love the food there and also the hospitality of the staff. I was quite impressed and surprised that the staff there was actually from vocational schools which majors in Home Science. They were local and I was so proud to see that such impressive food and service was provided by our very own local talents. They were very properly well trained and polite in how they served the food and drinks. It is also owned by one of the Vocational teachers and its great that instead of hiring foreign people, he instead has given a chance to the ex-students a job and a place to show their talents in the hospitality industry. A must place to visit.

Was a treasure hunting adventure last night! Yup. I have watched National Treasure 2. It makes me love History even more. Now i want to take History as my Major haha What is exciting that it makes me wonder how, what is in the History books that we are being taught, has the possibility of not being what it seems. (Noah, you started this when we were in the Cafe in Japan).... Interesting eh? What is in the books are maybe what we are led to believe... Personally I love the 1st movie better compare to this one. The twist and turns in the 1st movie was exciting with all of the secrets being discovered by Nicholas Cage. I loved the cool table in the 2nd movie!! Check that out. And whats with Nicholas Cage haircut in the movie??? Hahaha it kept bothering me hehe Sorry everyone if you're expecting a review of the movie. I just write what's on the top of my head right now

I encountered a roadblock last night at Sengkurong. Note that my car was still quite new. License plate even started with KM (we are now registering KN). I have never modified my car and I have no plans to do so. I was stopped and two female policewomen was thoroughly checking out my car. The policewoman on the left was really eyeing my car and she was even checking my roadtax. Roadtax?? What?? Emm DUHHH.. don't you see that my car's brand new by the license plate??? Even my car model's new! I'm sure the Land transport Dept wouldn't have let my car go into the streets with a KM license if I didn't have a roadtax which by logic would be new of course! What astounded me was the policewoman on the right was even checking out my passenger seat and the body of my car... Again, note that my passengers were wearing seatbelts so we were abiding the safety rules. Note again, I didnt have any bodykits, modified rims or tyres. STOCK CAR still!!! Note: Stock car is the original car itself. No modifications made. What made me unsatisfied was after all that she said "Ok lah" as if I had something on my car which wasn't to their satisfaction but she was letting me go! "Ok lah" ??? Thats all? She should have said "ok" but she said "Ok lah" !! Made me blabbing all the way home.. &%^*$!!!!

It's sad that after so many deaths from Road accidents in Brunei that the relevant authorities have just started to take action. They are now conducting Road Safety Campaigns with the Ministers and District Officers even joining to the streets to advise people upfront. Sad really considering the fact that this problem was actually acknowledged 10 years ago!!! and yet they were still laid back...Enjoying the scenery.. For the past 10 years, I have seen not much campaigning on road safety. Fining and speed cameras are still at their minimum, ESPECIALLY fining. The system has always been the same in combatting road safety. To make things worse, roadblocks would only be concentrating on car bodykits, small license plates, tinted windows. Yeaahh....lets educate our generation that small license plates, car bodykits and tinted windows causes accidents.. and I thought its from the drivers attitude and ethics that causes them. Instead of those things, we should educate the public and concentrate on the attitude and the ethics. I can't imagine how people who installed sport springs are fined when those people are the ones who drive slow coz of the regular "humping" (excuse the word) motion!! They can't drive fast esp on the condition of our roads. I think its time all of us esp relevant authorties to attend a crash course on CARS, road safety and ways on driving.

Finally got to use the empire cinema tickets which I won from HSBC. Enchanted was over already so we had to choose either I am Legend or Alvin and the Chipmunks. My friend wasn't a fan as she thought I am Legend was a Sci-Fic flick but I knew it was more than that. So we went ahead and booked Alvin and the Chipmunks instead. I remember the cartoon as I used to watch them almost everyday throughout my childhood. My mum used to tape them and we used to watch them over and over again. It was hilarious at the movies as we were watching it with a cinema full of kids. You'd hear the non-stop laughters esp this one particular kid who couldnt stop and he would still be laughing even after everyone stopped hehe hence making everyone continued laughing again. I wish I was a kid again. Its worth watching so do watch it guys esp if you love their voices. Remember that? Hehe My fav is Theodore. I love them plump hehe cute tummy nya atu wah! plus, he loves to eat haha

Today is the day when my grandpa will move out of the house as the place will be rented out. Lots of memories there when I was growing up. I still love the house til today. Couldn't let go so I cant be there today. I'm probably in denial. As I said, I hate change. Never could deal with it. Spent my moments there last night before its rented out. Had dinner with the rest of the family and visited every room. Managed to take photos too. Even my mum wanted to have her last moments as I took photos of her at certain parts of the house she also grew up in. The hard part is that memories of my late grandma is inside the house. Was commuting on my way to work Tuesday morning when a friend's tyre blew just right in front of us. err.. I think "crumpled" would be appropriate. When you view the pics, you'd understand. Apparently, his tyre has already expired!! Year 1999!! Emm.. D, what year is this? Oh yeah! its 2007!! hahaha well, we stood there for an hour plus waiting for these two mechanics to help out. We spent more time trying to figure out how to get his spare tyre out from the bottom of his car instead of changing it haha D was lucky he got away again unhurt as he just had a terrible accident with the same car last month. He even walked away from the accident laughing eventhough the car was upside down! Haha Anyways, good to know things turned out alright.

From the raya pics, some would have judge me for celebrating raya instead of mourning for my late grandma. Don't get me wrong. I miss my grandma everyday and I have been mourning for her eversince she has passed away. It hurts me more as me and brother were the closest to her of all her grandchildren. Crying and not going out during raya is not what my grandma would have wanted for me. As you can see from my pics, I only went to open houses majority. Last few rayas I have been invited to several open houses by my colleagues but I was unable to attend because I go raya-ing with my family and the list was long, time constraint was also the problem. This year, I wanted to make an effort to visit those who invited me coz I appreciate them. I did not celebrate raya excessively and I actually had no mood to celebrate it happily. It was out of respect for my friends who had always visited my home and my friends who has always invited me over during their open house.

Was chatting with an old friend earlier. She was longing to be home and I felt sorry for her. When she's here, she can only be back for a few days before being whisked away forcefully by the responsibility of her job. I can understand the feeling of being so far away from home, family, friends and especially your loved ones. Its a dreadful feeling, I know. Especially if you're all alone, trying to get by the day. Some would just make themselves busy with work and activities, saying everything's alright so that they wont feel that burden, that longing, that hurtful feeling, that they could all wish they could be right where they wanted just by a snap of the fingers. Sometimes to overcome these feelings, you do simple things. Like for say, when you miss someone and you can't be with each other, you'd call them. It always feels better after that one call. Though the feeling is still there, it still helps. It lessens the burden and the longing. Maybe what I am trying to say is that, to get through the day for some of us, we need that. Someone to call..

Attended the "Seminar for Local Administration" at the Empire Hotel and Country Club on Tuesday 13/11 as a representative of my association, jointly organised by the Japanese Embassy, the Japan Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) Singapore and Ministry of Home Affairs. Members of the seminar also included government officials from Community Development, Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports and Health Services Dept, Ministry of Health with Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Dato Paduka Awang Hj Dani bin Hj Ibrahim as the Guest of Honour. Also present was the Ambassador of Japan, Hashimoto Itsuo. Quite an interesting seminar as we had the Vice Mayor of Aomori City, Sato Kenichi as guest speaker projecting his Prefecture as an example for local administation at the seminar.
